S01 · Step 1
Step 1: Create an AWS Athena Data Storage
Start by connecting AWS Athena as your data storage in OWOX Data Marts.
- Select the AWS Region where Athena runs
- Specify an S3 Output Bucket for query results
- Add AWS Access Key ID and Secret Access Key for an IAM user with Athena and S3 permissions

Step 2: Create an Open Exchange Rates Data Mart
Create a new Data Mart and choose Connector as the definition type.
- Select Open Exchange Rates as the data source
- Provide your Open Exchange Rates API credentials
- No API coding or engineering required

Step 3: Select Fields & Configure Data Import
Choose exactly which exchange rate data you want to land in AWS Athena.
- Select the required Open Exchange Rates API endpoint
- Choose fields like base currency, target currency, exchange rate, and timestamp
- Define destination database and table settings, or keep defaults

Step 4: Run & Schedule Exchange Rates Data Collection
Once published, control how exchange rate data is imported.
- Incremental load for the latest available rates
- Backfill (custom period) for historical exchange rate data
- Monitor execution in Run History

Step 5: Use Exchange Rates Data Across BI Tools & AI Insights
Your exchange rate data is now available through AWS Athena.
- Normalize revenue and cost metrics across currencies
